Armed forces have issued a statement attempting to rumors regarding increasing extensions of mandatory military service.
“It has been recently noticed circulation of rumors over increasing duration of conscription for holders of several qualifications,” said Military Spokesperson Mohamed Samir said in a statement on Facebook.
“Armed forces confirm that news circulated in this regard are untrue. No amendments were made over extending the compulsory military service,” he said referring to the same system of one year for those with higher education, year and half for holders of above intermediate qualifications and two years for holders of intermediate qualifications.
