Military officer killed, others injured as gunmen shot armed forces bus in Cairo

An armed forces officer was killed and three others were injured on Thursday in an armed attack against a military bus in al-Amiriya district in Cairo.

 

Preliminary investigations showed that unknown gunmen fired shots at the bus on Kablat Street, near al-Matariya Police Station, and escaped.

 

State TV reported that two persons on motorbike shot the military minibus, adding that the bus driver was killed, while an officer and two soldiers were injured.

 

The injured were transferred to Zaitoun Hospital then to Kobri al-Qubba Hospital.

 

Security services are making efforts to arrest the criminals.

 

Military Spokesperson Ahmed Mohamed Ali posted on Facebook saying that the attack took place on Thursday at 7am and that it was carried out by terrorists that he alleges were affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.

 

The injured are being treated at armed forces hospitals, Ali said adding they are in stable condition.
