King Abdullah II calls on US to support Egypt against terrorism

King Abdullah II of Jordan met on Wednesday with leaders of the US House of Representatives in Washington, calling for US support to Egypt to confront terrorism in the Sinai Peninsula and carry out its pivotal role in the region.
 
According to the official Jordanian news agency Petra, Abdullah met with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Chairman of Senate Committee on Armed Services Carl Levin and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Buck McKeon at the US Congress.
 
The meetings tackled developments in the Middle East, regional and international efforts against terrorism as well as resumption of the peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis.
 
Meanwhile, the US officials praised the role played by Abdullah to face challenges in the Middle East.
 
Abdullah, who arrived in the United States two days ago, is scheduled to meet with his US counterpart Barack Obama.
