The Journalists Syndicate filed a claim Thursday with the top prosecutor office against guards of Cairo governor Galal Mostafa al-Saeed over assaulting a journalist in a news website.
The assaulted journalist has been working as an intern for three years at the news website.
"We said since the first moment we will not differentiate between the syndicate members and trainees as long as they are working with press. We are responsible for organizing the market and we will action in this regard in agreement with the syndicate council," said Journalists Syndicate head Yehia Qalash.
A police officer tasked to secure Cairo governor assaulted a female journalist who was on duty and the syndicate will take legal action against him, Qalash added.
