A huge fire broke out Friday morning in a tourist boat off the Corniche area, south of Hurghada. The smoke covered the sky all around the area and security authorities were called in to deal with the fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out suddenly. The Civil Protection Forces could not participate in extinguishing the fire due to the remoteness of the boat from the shore.
The Navy in Hurghada was forced to dispatch forces to control the fire.
A security source revealed that initial investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit due to a malfunction in the boat's electric switchboard.
No victims were reported and the main damage from the incident was suffered by the boat.
