A forensic source has said that 39 people were killed by live ammunition and two by cartridges in the clashes between supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsy and security forces on Sunday.
The Forensic Authority had not issued an official report about the causes of death until Monday afternoon.
The Health Ministry, on the other hand, said the latest official toll of the violence was 53 dead and 271 injured.
