A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday accuses the Egyptian Revolutionary Council and the Revolution's Parliament (both groups affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood) of issuing false statements about the reality of the situation in Egypt. It also indicates that these entities are inciting violence and terrorism, as well as circulating lies abroad.
The strongly-worded statement added that persons belonging to these fugitive groups have been visiting a number of countries to promote fallacies and extremist ideas, all the while claiming to represent the Egyptian people, who completely renounce them.
Both entities have been mobilizing support to implement their "malicious goals", with the intention of demolishing the Egyptian state and undermining the will of its people, it added. Sunday's remarks by the ministry referred to a recent statement issued by both groups on 30 January.
Egypt reiterates that any current and future entities created by the Brotherhood are illegal and do not represent the Egyptian masses.
Dealing with these entities and giving them legitimacy show disrespect to the will of Egyptians, it added.
There is no doubt that some countries, while professing their commitment to fighting extremism, nonetheless give them room to promote their ideas and incite violence and terrorism, the statement mentioned.
