Informed sources have indicated that Egypt will propose solutions to the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam issue during a meeting in Cairo scheduled for Saturday.
The solutions aim to solve the fundamental differences between the two consulting firms that study the environmental and social impacts of the dam so as to conform to the principles that were signed by the Egyptian, Sudanese and Ethiopian leaders in Khartoum.
The sources added that the study could be assigned to a third firm if the conflicts are not resolved.
Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hossam Maghazi said Egypt will relay the fears coming in from the Egyptian streets concerning the dam’s impact. “The three parties are ready for alternatives,” he reassured.
