Egypt has been elected member of the UN Peacebuilding Commission for two years.
Egypt won Africa's seat for 2015-2016, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati on Saturday.
This step comes as Egypt acts to restore its leading and historical role in Africa, Abdel Aati said.
The commission, which was established by two resolutions of the Security Council and General Assembly, specializes in building peace in countries emerging from conflicts, Abdel Aati said.
