Cairo Court of Appeals for Urgent Matters decreed on Saturday lack of jurisdiction in the appeal against by Cairo Court of Urgent Matters which earlier decreed lack of jurisdiction in the lawsuits demanding demanding Qatar and Al Jazeera Mubashes Masr TV channel be labeled as supporters of terrorism.
Lawyer Samir Sabry earlier filed lawsuit calling on president, prime minister, interior minister and Arab League secretary general to consider Qatar a pro-terrorism country, for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, which was labelled by authorities as terrorist group.
“Qatar hosts several terrorist fugitives. It rejected extraditing them to Egypt,” the lawyer said.
The court started reviewing the case on 9 April.
Egypt severed relations with Qatar over its declared rejection of transitional authorities that ousted its major ally, Mohamed Morsy, and the Muslim Brotherhood from Egypt's rule last year. Egypt is prosecuting reporters from Qatari Al Jazeera channel over charges of fueling domestic unrest through their reports.
The kingdom is reportedly leaning towards deporting those figures in response to Gulf pressures.
