Unknown armed attackers Wednesday fired two RPG missiles at the Third Police Station in Arish, North Sinai, shortly after other gunmen had fired an initial missile at the facility.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers were riding their vehicle when they stopped in front of the police department and fired. No casualties have been reported.
Security forces sent in reinforcements to the area and blocked the roads leading to the police station.
Clashes between assailants and officers at the department late Tuesday left one soldier, Ibrahim al-Shazly, wounded. He was taken to Arisk military hospital for treatment.
The Sinai Peninsula has been the scene of a series of attacks against the army and police since the overthrow of President Mohamed Morsy this month. The Egyptian army has been leading a campaign to purge the region of terrorist elements.
