Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb said that the Al-Azhar is launching a satellite channel in three months to counter radical and terrorist ideologies, which will be broadcast in Arabic, English, French and German.
Speaking to representatives of student unions on Wednesday, Tayeb said the Al-Azhar addresses terrorism through convoys in various governorates in cooperation with the Ministry of Endowments, and through revising the curricula of its schools and universities. “The convoys call for supporting the roadmap,” he said.
He also said the Al-Azhar is coming up with new proposals for the committee that is conducting dialogue with the Vatican. “Europe should hear the voice of the correct Islam,” he said.
And about the Constitution violating the Islamic Sharia, Tayeb said the Al-Azhar participated in the development of the new Constitution. “We would never allow any violation of the Sharia or the Islamic identity of Egypt,” he said.
