The number of terrorist suspects arrested in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula so far stands at 203, armed forces spokesperson Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali, said Friday.
Ali said the suspects stand accused of launching a series of attacks on army and police units.
On his Facebook page, Ali said the individuals detained include 124 Egyptians and 48 foreigners.
The army killed 78 militants, including 46 Egyptians and 32 foreigners, during a campaign against alleged terrorist elements in the Sinai, the military spokesperson claimed.
Security forces managed to destroy 343 underground tunnels along the Rafah border, with the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Gaza Strip, and confiscated 49 cars and five motorbikes used in smuggling goods through the tunnels.
