Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damaty has said that the sixth wooden layer of King Khufu’s second solar boat will be removed within days, in collaboration with a team from the Japanese Waseda University, after three dimensional documentation of the ship is completed.
He added in a press statement on Sunday that 507 wooden pieces have already been removed. “Once the work is completed, the ship will be reassembled and exhibited in a private hall at the Grand Egyptian Museum,” he said.
The first ship is currently exhibited next to the pyramid.
