The armed forces killed 15 alleged members of the terrorist group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis in North Sinai on Thursday, including one of the group's most dangerous Ashraf Abu Zrai'y, according to head of North Sinai Security Directorate Major General Ali Azzazy.
The armed forces received information about the gathering of a large numbers of group members in three houses in the village of al-Moqataa, south Sheikh Zuweid, said Azzazy.
Apache helicopters immediately bombed the terrorist groupings, he added.
Azzazy pointed out that the Apache bombed a private car carrying three extremists, which led to their deaths. One of the dead was Zrai'y, Azzazy said.
Fifteen were killed and 15 others were injured in the successful air strikes of Thursday, Azzazy added.
Azzazy said the attack foiled a terrorist scheme that was planned by extremists during their meetings, at dawn on Thursday.
