The South Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday postponed the trial of Mohamed al-Zawahiri, brother of the al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, and 67 others to 9 August due to a malfunction in the microphone, as the judge could not hear the defendants from inside the glass dock.
The defendants waved to the judge that they also could not hear him, which prompted him to postpone the session.
The defendants are charged with forming a dangerous terrorist organization that considers state authorities as infidels that must be fought with arms and toppled by force. They are also charged with attacking members of the armed forces and the police, targeting Copts and their places of worship and spreading chaos to endanger the security of society.
