Former Libyan PM: Turkey, Qatar, armed militias, provided weapons

Former Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril claimed that Qatar and Turkey armed 1,600 militias and imported 22 million firearms into his country.

In a press conference held by the foreign affairs committee at the Journalists Syndicate on Sunday dubbed the "Future of Libya", Jibril refused calling the Arab Spring revolutions as a ‘western conspiracy’, saying the Arab youth “took to streets to express their right to life. He also said that the Arab Spring “started with the revolution against tyrants and was then used by the West to serve their purposes.”

He described the situation in Libya as very disappointing.

"The number of those displaced from Tripoli is 50,000, which leaves plenty of room for militias to commit killings every day," he added.

The bloodshed that is still ongoing in Libya, according to Jibril, is blamed on the Emir of Qatar who told Libyan political forces that revolutionaries should take up arms.

He called for starting serious negotiations to stop the daily killings and end the current conflict.

Former Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi, according to Jibril, “pushed revolutionaries towards taking up arms to protect themselves against the collective systematic murder that he committed during the revolution."
