Egyptians banned from traveling to Libya for security reasons

The Salloum land port administration said that the crossing of individuals from both sides has been banned as of Tuesday until the security situation in Libya improves.

However, trucks will be allowed to cross through the border.

The director of security in Matrouh, Major General Anani Hamouda, said that he had received a notice stating that he was to give instructions to the management of the port to prevent Egyptians from traveling into Libya and also prevent the entry of Libyans into Egypt as of Tuesday, 20 May, until the security situation in Libya stabilized. He added that the instructions, however, allowed the movement of trucks.

Both sides had agreed on 15 March that Egyptians could cross on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Libyans could cross on Sundays and Mondays.
